The social tariff for gas and electricity – a reduced price for certain categories of low-income households and people in social housing – will increase from 1 January 2025, the federal energy regulator CREG announced.

The tariff for electricity will rise by 10% next year (compared to the last quarter of 2024) and will exceed €20 per kilowatt-hour.

This applies to both the single-rate tariff (€20.815, including VAT) and the dual-rate tariff (€21.263 during the day and €20.46 at night). The night-only rate will increase to €17.632 per kilowatt-hour.

Natural gas and heating social tariffs will rise by 15% to €5.894 per kilowatt-hour.

The benefit is uniform across all energy providers. The CREG sets the tariff amount each quarter.
