The CEOs of AXA, ING, and Deutsche Bank have alerted authorities about a decline in safety around their headquarters in the Porte de Namur area of Brussels, as reported by L'Echo on Saturday.
The executives wrote to the outgoing Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (Open VLD), the Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs, the mayors of Ixelles and Brussels, and the Minister-President of Brussels. They echoed "numerous testimonies from employees who express their concern" over a "growing feeling of insecurity."
The letter describes "a worrying increase in people engaging in drug consumption, attempted prostitution, and acts of exhibitionism," as well as "scenes of aggression and thefts, creating a climate of insecurity."
The CEOs are calling for “swift and concerted action to strengthen security in the area” and at the Porte de Namur metro station.
