Two suspects were arrested overnight from Friday to Saturday by local police in the Limburg Region Capital zone after they sprayed revellers with pepper spray to steal various items.
The incident took place during the Extrema Nord event, a party hosted at the Trixxo Arena in Hasselt, Limburg.
There were two incidents involving pepper spray during the event, reported Lomme Valkeneers, a member of the event's organising team.
The first incident occurred shortly before midnight. Several individuals used pepper spray on partygoers and attempted to steal from them amidst the chaos.
The second incident happened around 45 minutes later, leading to the arrest of two individuals by the police.
"About 40 people went to the first aid post to rinse their irritated eyes. The rooms were then ventilated as much as possible, and the party continued without interruption to the music," explained Lomme Valkeneers.
The stolen items were not recovered. Anyone who may have been a victim of theft is encouraged to report it to the organisers.
The two-day event attracted nearly 6,000 people on Friday night. The organisers assured that all attendees will be checked even more thoroughly on Saturday night.
