December has been grey even by Belgian standards and Christmas is more of the same. Tuesday afternoon will be grey and misty with intermittent light rain, according to the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI).
In the Ardennes, visibility may be reduced by low clouds, with snow or sleet possible.
Maximum temperatures, expected in the evening, will range from 0 or 1°C in the Ardennes to 10 or 11°C in the Westhoek area, with light to moderate south to south-west winds. Along the coast, the wind will become moderate from the west-south-west.
On Christmas Eve night, the weather will remain overcast and misty with occasional drizzle, gradually decreasing after midnight. There is also a risk of low visibility in higher regions. Minimum temperatures will range from 1°C in Hautes Fagnes to 9 or 10°C in the west of the country. The wind will generally be light from the south to south-west, and westerly along the coast.
On Christmas Day, Wednesday, the weather will remain very cloudy and misty, with occasional drizzle in the morning. In the afternoon, it will become mostly dry. In the Ardennes, the risk of low visibility will persist.
