Ryanair has announced that it will add 29 new Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet in 2025.

The Irish low-cost airline will invest $3 billion in the new planes, a move that is expected to create over 2,000 high-earning aviation jobs in Europe.

Ryanair claims the new Boeing 737s will reduce CO2 emissions by 16% and noise by 40%, while carrying approximately 4% more passengers.

The new aircraft will be allocated to "efficient and low-cost" airports in EU countries like Sweden, Italy, Spain and Poland, where governments support aviation growth.

Ryanair will not increase its flight traffic in countries with higher aviation taxes, such as the UK, France and Germany.

'Sustainable' growth

The company believes this investment will make it the only major airline growing its traffic, tourism and employment in Europe by 2025.

"While most European airlines face capacity limitations, this new acquisition will allow Ryanair to increase its passenger numbers from 200 million in 2024 to 210 million in 2025," said Ryanair's communications manager Jade Kirwan.

"This will also create 2,000 new jobs at some of Europe’s most efficient low-cost airports, where governments are fostering sustainable aviation growth by eliminating aviation taxes and reducing airport charges," she added.
