Tuesday will start cloudy, but the last day of the year offers the possibility of some sunny spells.

There is a risk of freezing drizzle or snow in the southeast in the morning. Temperatures will range from -2°C to 7°C, according to the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI).

The day will begin with widespread grey skies, with clear skies in the Hautes Fagnes (Liège province). In the Ardennes, freezing drizzle is expected, mainly in the southeast.

Cloud cover may break in some areas, allowing occasional sunshine, but the sky will remain mostly cloudy.

Temperatures will not exceed -2°C to -1°C in the Ardennes, 4°C to 5°C in the centre of the country, and 8°C along the coast.

Winds from the south to southwest will be moderate, stronger at the coast, with gusts reaching 50 to 55 km/h.

A code yellow alert for slippery conditions will be in place until 12:00 on Tuesday for the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg.

Ice patches may form in the east and southeast. Light freezing drizzle or snow grains are also possible until midday, mainly in the province of Luxembourg.

The RMI also warns of fog in these provinces, issuing a yellow alert until 13:00 on Tuesday.

Freezing and widespread fog could reduce visibility to less than 200 metres in the Ardennes, the RMI noted.
