During a routine vehicle search, Brussels police officers from the Midi zone (Anderlecht, Forest, Saint-Gilles) seized a package of marijuana, €765 in cash, and a mobile phone.

Later at the driver's home, officers found 41 grams of cocaine, 97 grams of hashish, seven smartphones, and €3,080 in cash during a search, according to the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office on Thursday.

"While on patrol in the Comarché car park in Anderlecht, a police team noticed a BMW with French licence plates. After checking the vehicle, it was found to be flagged. As the team was inspecting the car, a person got in and started the engine. The police decided to check the driver," detailed the Prosecutor. Officers then seized the drugs and cash.

Since the driver already had a criminal record for similar offences, they decided to conduct a search at his residence in the municipality of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe. At the house, they discovered significant quantities of drugs and thousands of euros in cash.

A judge has been appointed for charges of drug possession and distribution, money laundering, and handling stolen goods, and has placed the suspect under arrest.
