A prison warder's car was set on fire with a Molotov cocktail at Haren Prison in Brussels on Thursday afternoon; two other vehicles were also badly damaged.
The news, first reported by La Capitale, was later confirmed by emergency services.
The incident occurred at around 3.40 p.m. in the prison's visitors' car park. Unknown persons there threw a Molotov cocktail at a jailer's car, which caught fire, and the blaze quickly spread to a second car.
The Flemish Brabant-West fire brigade arrived on the scene but could not prevent the two cars from being gutted. A third car was also seriously damaged.
However, the fire caused no injuries.
The Office of the Public Prosecutor in Brussels was informed of the incident and has appointed a fire expert to further investigate it.
