Belgium’s Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has issued an orange alert for slippery conditions tonight in the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg.

The rest of the country is under a yellow alert.

Initial snowfall will bring between 1 to 4 cm of snow, followed by occasional moderate rain on Saturday night

These rains may cause ice, especially in the Liège and Luxembourg provinces.

In Namur province, the icy rain will be less persistent.

In the provinces north of the Sambre and Meuse valley, the risk of ice remains, but rain and snowfall is expected.

The RMI has also issued a yellow alert for rain from Sunday to Monday morning in the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg.

“Between midnight on Saturday and Monday morning, rainfall could locally reach 30 to 40 litres per square metre, particularly in southern Namur and Luxembourg, with over 25 litres per square metre in 24 hours,” stated the institute.
