Temperatures drop below zero - hazardous road conditions expected

Drivers may face dangerous conditions on the road on Monday night and Tuesday as temperatures drop below zero throughout Belgium, according to the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI).

Monday evening is forecast to be relatively cold with temperatures between -5°C and -10°C in most inland areas, and between -10°C and -15°C in the Ardennes. Frost and freezing fog are expected throughout the night. The southwest wind is predicted to be light and occasionally moderate along the coast.

Caution on the road is still advised on Tuesday due to slippery conditions. Temperatures are expected to increase, varying between 0°C and 3°C inland and around 7°C along the coast. The wind will generally be light across Belgium, and moderate along the coast.

On Tuesday night, temperatures will range between -5°C and 1°C inland, and around 6°C at the coast. In the southern part of Belgium, temperatures are expected to cause drizzle to temporarily freeze over the ground.

The rest of the week is expected to remain relatively dry, with relatively higher temperatures forecast, although maximum temperatures are expected to remain below 10°C. Sunny spells are predicted for the weekend.
