Snow sports enthusiasts will now have to look further afield for their upcoming ski holidays, as all slopes in Belgium have closed following a recent rise in temperatures, according to the latest snow report from the East Cantons Tourism Agency.

Temperatures dropped to -15.5°C in some parts of Belgium on Monday night – the country's coldest night so far this winter.

Since then, however, they have been on the rise and hovered just above 0°C. This means snow on the mountains is melting.

On Wednesday, the Ovifat centres (alpine skiing and sledging), Mertens Rocherath (cross-country skiing), and Herzebösch (cross-country skiing) were still accessible. However, on Thursday it was announced that they had closed.
