Brussels Airlines will gradually resume flights to Tel Aviv in Israel from 1 February, the airline announced on Thursday.
The decision follows a thorough analysis and applies to all airlines in the Lufthansa Group, of which Brussels Airlines is a subsidiary.
"After careful consideration, Lufthansa Group airlines – including Brussels Airlines – will resume flights to Tel Aviv as of 1 February," a press statement read. "Brussels Airlines will restart the flights gradually and increase the number of weekly flights depending on demand."
The airline emphasised that "safety and security remain the absolute priority." It added that "Brussels Airlines and the Lufthansa Group will continue to closely monitor the situation in the region and adjust the flight schedule immediately if necessary".
Flights were suspended several times since October 2023 due to escalating tensions in the Middle East (in April, August and September following the explosion of pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon).
