The restaurant chain Lunch Garden is preparing to file for bankruptcy early next week in the Brussels Commercial Court, after which some of its 61 branches will be taken over by CIM Capital, an Antwerp-based investment company specialising in restructuring cases.

This was reported by the French-language business newspaper L’Echo, which obtained the information from union sources.

A special works council meeting is to be held on Monday at Lunch Garden’s headquarters in Evere to discuss an “update on the current situation,” the sources said.

The move is expected to result in job losses, and the Christian trade union ACV Voeding en Diensten, which represents workers in the food services sector, has already said it is bracing for bad news.
