Telecom company Proximus is moving its headquarters to Tour & Taxis in Brussels and selling its iconic towers near Brussels North station to real-estate developer Nextensa.
Proximus had been looking for a new Brussels headquarters for some time, either in a new location or through a renovation of its towers.
In 2022, Proximus reached an agreement with property developer Immobel on a renovation of the towers, but Immobel abandoned the plans last summer.
"The negotiations are entering the final stage," Nextensa said in a press release on Wednesday afternoon.
Now, Proximus has decided to establish its headquarters on the Tour & Taxis site, in Nextensa's new Lake Side project. "The Proximus Campus Brussels will largely be housed in office buildings to be developed in the Lake Side project, the last zone of the redevelopment of the Tour & Taxis site."

The Proximus employees currently based in the Boréal building are scheduled to move to Tour & Taxis in the first half of 2027. By the end of the first half of 2029, all Proximus Campus services and workplaces will be in place.
With the purchase of the Proximus towers, Nextensa is launching a new redevelopment project. Details about the future plans will be worked out and communicated in the coming months.
The final contracts are expected to be signed by the second quarter of this year.
Trading in Nextensa shares was suspended on the Brussels Stock Exchange on Wednesday pending the publication of the press release.
