There will be no legal proceedings against Vincent Van Quickenborne in the ‘Pipigate’ case due to a lack of evidence of criminal conduct, according to the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office.

The case is linked to an incident 14 August 2023, when two men were caught urinating against an empty police van parked outside the former Justice Minister's home during the celebration of his 50th birthday. The vehicle had been parked there for the Minister’s protection following threats made against him.

Footage allegedly showed Van Quickenborne mimicking urination movements hours after the incident, something he has always denied. He maintained that he was unaware of his guests’ actions.

The two men involved, aged 50 and 52, have received a settlement offer: they need to pay a settlement of €1,250 and a moral compensation of €1 to the affected police officers, in addition to paying for the cleaning of their van.

The case will not go to court, and Van Quickenborne will not face prosecution due to insufficient evidence of criminal activity.
