Belgian footballer Radja Nainggolan addressed fans on social media platform Instagram late on Wednesday night after being detained and then released under conditions as part of an international drug trafficking investigation.

Nainggolan stated that he wants to focus entirely on football and regain peace of mind now that he is back home. He also requested privacy and time to recover, adding that he will not be giving any interviews on the matter for the time being.

He described the recent days as "extremely difficult" and expressed gratitude to those who supported him, including his family, friends, current club KSC Lokeren-Temse, fans, teammates and lawyers.

The former Red Devil came under the scrutiny of federal police investigators in Brussels for giving or lending significant sums of money to Nasr-Eddine Sekkaki, the younger brother of notorious criminal Ashraf Sekkaki.

Nainggolan was arrested on Monday along with 17 other suspects as part of an extensive investigation into international drug trafficking, conducted by the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office. He has been charged with belonging to a criminal organisation and released under certain conditions.
