A national trade union action in Brussels on Thursday 13 February is expected to significantly impact operations at Brussels Airport, management warned on Friday.
A large number of employees of handling agents and security personnel at Brussels Airport will take part in the strike.
Given the expected impact, a large number of flights will have to be cancelled or rescheduled. The airlines will contact the passengers of the flights concerned directly.
"We regret the inconvenience that our passengers will experience as a result of this demonstration," a spokesperson for Brussels Airport told The Brussels Times.
The last national strike on 13 January also caused large-scale disruption both at Brussels Airport in Zaventem and Charleroi Airport. Many flights arriving in and departing from Belgium's two largest airports were cancelled or delayed.
Trade unions are planning to strike on the thirteenth day of every month in protest of the new 'Arizona' Federal Government agreement. Social spending cuts - particularly cuts to pensions - have been labelled "inhumane" by critics.
