Investments in Belgium in 2024 surpassed pre-pandemic levels, a survey by the European Investment Bank (EIB) revealed on Wednesday.

The annual EIB survey collects and analyses data from around 13,000 firms across all EU Member States and a sample from the United States. It examines investment activities by companies, their financing requirements and their challenges.

Last year, investments in the country were 4% above pre-Covid levels.

The EIB stated that "Belgian companies have an edge over the rest of the EU in terms of innovation and the application of advanced digital technologies."

Additionally, the percentage of Belgian companies prioritising the development and market introduction of new products and services is significantly higher than the EU average. While the EU average is 25%, in Belgium the figure is 39%.

Lastly, the EIB reports that nearly six in ten Belgian companies (58%) have invested in improving energy efficiency.
