Daniel Craig in the James Bond film.

The American production company Amazon MGM Studios announced on Thursday that it will be in charge of the creative control of James Bond.

When Amazon bought MGM Studios in 2022, the American company obtained the distribution rights for all James Bond films.

However, creative control remains in the hands of producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who have been in charge of the saga since the film Golden Eye, released in 1995.

They had succeeded their father Albert Broccoli. Amazon MGM Studios, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have set up a joint venture in which they hold the intellectual property rights to the 007 franchise. They are the co-owners, but Wilson and Broccoli are no longer producers.

The former wants to devote himself to art and charity, while his half-sister wants to "concentrate on other projects". However, Amazon is not communicating on the release date of the next instalment.

The most recent, ‘No Time to Die’, is due in 2021, with Daniel Craig's final performance as the British special agent.
