Ten associates of notorious French drug lord Mohamed Amra have been arrested.
They are suspected of being involved in the planning, escape, and flight of the repeat offender, the public prosecutor’s office in Paris announced on Sunday. Amra himself was arrested in Romania on Saturday after escaping in May last year following a violent attack on a prison transport.
The ten alleged accomplices were arrested overnight from Saturday to Sunday, prosecutor Laure Beccuau said in a statement. Amra is due to appear before Romanian justice on Sunday, which will decide if he will be extradited to France.
Amra has a long criminal record. He had been in prison in Evreux since January 2022, for charges including extortion and violence. Amra is also suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and allegedly ordered murders within the criminal underworld. Police suspects his involvement in the gangs of Marseille.
