The repair works on part of the Brussels Ring Road (R0) in Anderlecht, which started in October last year, are still ongoing. However, three lanes of traffic in each direction will be reopened from Monday, alleviating some of the traffic disruption.

In Anderlecht, the R0 forms a bridge over Boulevard Sylvain Dupuis. Brussels Mobility discovered last year that the bridge deck over this road was cracking and needed urgent repair. The underside of the bridge was repaired first, before starting on the road surface of the R0 in October last year. The mobility agency warned of disruption, especially during rush hours, with delays of up to 45 minutes.

Brussels Mobility has now announced that it will be continuing the repair work on the bridge until June 2025 but is reopening three (narrow) lanes of traffic in each direction from Monday 3 March.

In the first phase (March and April), the two left lanes towards Antwerp on the inner ring road will be open, while in May and June, the two lanes on the right will be open. Throughout these two phases, three lanes will be open in the direction of Mons. The speed limit will remain 50 km/h.

"However, on certain weekends, traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction during the day and to one lane in each direction at night," said spokesperson Inge Paemen. This will be the case on 8 March when the road surface of the outer ring is being repaired, at the end of March and mid-May when the concrete is setting, at the end of April for the new phase, and on 7 and 8 June when the road signs are removed.

The works on the inner ring will be finished from June. The usual speed limit of 100 km/h will apply on the three lanes towards Antwerp. On the three lanes of the outer ring (towards Mons), the speed limit will remain at 50 km/h. This section of the bridge will be renovated at a later date.

"The situation under the bridge, on Boulevard Sylvain Dupuis, remains unchanged. Traffic there must use a single lane in both directions," Paemen concluded.
