The Flemish Government will increase its investments by €550 million this year, according to figures from the Flemish socio-economic council (SERV), the consultation body between Flemish social partners.
In total, €6.5 billion is set to be invested this year. Of this, €2.27 billion will be allocated to transport infrastructure, including the Oosterweel project in Antwerp.
The government will also allocate €684 million for the construction of new buildings.
Additionally, nearly €1 billion is earmarked for investment support from third parties, such as businesses.
The education sector will also benefit from a nearly 10% increase in public spending this year.
