Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young will kick off the European leg of his upcoming world tour with a free concert in Ukraine.

The 79-year-old folk-rock musician announced on his website on Monday. While he did not provide a specific date, he confirmed that the concert would be free and details would be posted on his website.

Young, one of the most successful musicians of his generation, has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine since the Russian invasion over three years ago. He is also a vocal critic of former US President Donald Trump.

"Keep on Rockin’ in the FREE WORLD," he wrote, referencing the lyrics to his 1991 hit. The message was accompanied by an image of a large Ukrainian flag.

According to the respected Rolling Stone magazine, this will be the ‘Godfather of Grunge’s’ first concert in Ukraine.

The Love Earth World Tour was originally set to begin in Rättvik, Sweden, on June 18. Young will also perform in Belgium on June 30 with an open-air concert at the Royal Palace Square in Brussels.
