Oldest Belgian woman celebrates 112th birthday

The oldest Belgian woman just celebrated her 112th birthday, Belga News Agency reported on Monday citing Anthony Croes-Lacroix, the Belgian correspondent for the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).

Yvonne Francier was born in late February 1913 in Anderlecht. She celebrated her 112th year of life in Ajaccio on the French island of Corsica, where she currently resides. Francier left Belgium in 1970 following the death of her husband.

The title of the oldest living Belgian in the country is still held by Denise Waelbers, from Mortsel (Antwerp). Waelbers is 109 years old.

The oldest man in Belgium is currently Alfons Declerck from Ostend. He is 107 years old.
