Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has proposed hosting peace talks on Ukraine in Minsk, inviting US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Tell Trump that I’m waiting for him here, along with Putin and Zelenskyy," Lukashenko said in a video interview with American blogger Mario Nawfal, recorded on 27 February, according to the official news agency Belta.
In a speech to Congress on Tuesday, Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom he had a heated exchange last Friday, would be "ready" to negotiate with Russia and sign a minerals agreement.
Earlier, President Zelenskyy had indicated his willingness to conclude "an agreement on mineral resources and security." Ukraine wants the agreement to come with security guarantees.
Minsk was already the location of the failed peace agreements of 2014 and 2015.
