The depot that restocks seven Cora supermarkets, located in Heppignies (Hainaut), is blocked Thursday morning, announces the Setca union.

This blockage is intended as a reaction to the persistent uncertainty about the future of these stores and the lack of reaction from management.

The union points out that Louis Delhaize, the group that owns Cora, has shed several shares in recent years.

There are still the seven Cora hypermarkets, the shopping malls that house them and the depot that supplies them. This represents 2,000 jobs and 2,000 more in the various chains that occupy the shopping malls.

"We can no longer reassure the 2,000 Cora employees. They are experiencing their third wave of restructuring and reorganization since 2015", points out the president of Setca, Myriam Delmée.

"Cora's management is keeping its head in the sand. We have responded to all of management's requests for meetings and have not avoided any debate. We expect the same from them...With this blockade, the workers are sending a clear message: enough is enough," she warns.
