With a 1.5% increase for new motorcycles, it is the only type of new vehicle whose sales increased, Traxio figures show. In addition, second-hand motorcycle sales increased by as much as 8.1%.
In December, new motorcycle sales even increased by nearly 90%, Traxio reports.

The growing demand can be explained by the change in mobility behaviour during the pandemic, New Mobility News reports, noting "the associated sense of freedom" that comes with motorcycle rides.
The pandemic also saw people move to second-hand cars. While new car sales dropped by 21.6%, second-hand car sales dropped by a comparatively lower 6.3%.
