The European Commission has renewed its DiscoverEU initiative, offering thousands of young Europeans the chance to travel across the continent by train.
Among them, over 900 Belgian 18-year-olds will receive an Interrail pass, granting them access to around 30 European countries.
Those born between 1 July 2006 and 30 June 2007 are invited to apply between 2 April and 16 April 2025 via the European Youth Portal website. Applicants must answer five questions about Europe, its history, and culture, which will determine the winners.
In addition to the Interrail pass, winners will receive a European youth card, entitling them to various discounts on cultural activities, local transport, accommodation, and food.
Overall, in total, the European Commission is offering 36,000 tickets to 18-year olds across the Europe.
This is the seventh year of the initiative and is integrated into the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme. Since 2018, DiscoverEU has already issued more than 355,000 transport tickets.
