Displeased with the reforms initiated by the French Community Government (Wallonia-Brussels Federation), the education sector unions have planned a week of rotating actions starting Monday, expected to disrupt the smooth functioning of schools.

The new wave of teacher protests kicks off on Monday in the provinces of Liège and Luxembourg.

In Liège, teachers will demonstrate on the Montagne de Bueren, while in Bastogne, they will exclaim “Nuts!” to Minister Glatigny’s reforms, echoing General Anthony McAuliffe’s famous 1944 remark.

On Tuesday, actions will shift to the provinces of Namur and Walloon Brabant, as well as the Brussels-Capital Region.

A demonstration will take place in front of the government headquarters in Brussels, with educators occupying the Citadel in Namur.

Thursday will see a "Carnival of the Sacrificed" in Mons, located in the province of Hainaut.

The unions have also decided to publish a "gazette" aimed at the public. Printed in several thousand copies, it will include testimonies from teachers sharing the realities of their profession.

This gazette will be distributed on Wednesday in front of schools, in markets, and at key locations in Wallonia and Brussels.

The joint front of teachers opposes the cost-saving measures decided in vocational education and the reform of teacher status planned by the new MR-Engagés government.

The unions previously organised a strike day in November, followed by two strike days on 27 and 28 January.

On 27 January, more than 30,000 teachers and students marched through the streets of Brussels, showing a strong mobilisation within the sector.
