Antwerp police have arrested six people following a violent brawl at Koningin Astridplein near Central Station, in which four people were injured, the local police announced on Thursday.
Four individuals were injured in the altercation, with one victim in critical condition. All injured parties are also suspects in the case.
"Through further investigation and interviews, the police will map out who was involved and their respective roles," said police spokesperson Wouter Bruyns.
The incident occurred shortly before 19:00 on Wednesday evening. The brawl involved significant commotion. Sticks were used during the incident.
When police arrived, the group dispersed. Officers managed to speak with several witnesses and found four injured individuals. One victim had sustained stab wounds and was found to be in serious condition at the hospital.
"We are trying to uncover the reasons behind the fight based on statements from those involved and witnesses. There are also CCTV recordings that could assist us in our investigation," Bruyns added.
The forensic team conducted evidence analysis at various locations.
