A man was reportedly injured in an incident involving a machete in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Brussels municipality of Schaerbeek.
The details around the cause of the incident remain unclear. "At around 01:00, police officers on patrol in the North Quarter noticed a crowd gathering at the intersection of Rue d'Aerschot and Rue Allard," explained the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office in a statement.
"They found a victim with head injuries. The victim was taken care of by the emergency services. He is not in a life-threatening condition," it added.
Several local media outlets have reported the attack involved a machete. The Public Prosecutor's Office has not confirmed this information to The Brussels Times as of the time of publication.
One suspect was arrested in connection to the incident. The case was referred to an investigating judge on charges of attempted murder, robbery with violence, possession of a prohibited weapon and rebellion.
The Prosecutor's Office refrained from commenting further in the interest of the ongoing investigation.
