Spirito, the iconic Brussels nightclub located in a former Anglican church on Rue de Stassart, will close its doors as a nightlife venue after 16 years of operation.
Jérôme Blanchart, CEO of the Art Blanc group, who owns the property, announced in an appearance on Bx1.
"We've just decided to stop. We'll be reinventing Spirito from 30 April 2026", Blanchart said, signalling a major shift for one of the capital's most distinctive venues.
Blanchart described the Brussels nightlife sector as increasingly difficult to navigate. "It's working well, but nightlife in Brussels is complicated. Reinvesting in a nightclub today means taking too many risks," he explained.
Tighter noise regulations have played a significant role in the decision. According to Blanchart, a mandatory 20% reduction in volume led to a sharp 30% decline in clientele.
The venue's future remains uncertain, though one thing is clear: " It definitely won't be a nightclub anymore. It could be a restaurant, a party venue...maybe, there are many other possibilities," he added.
