A judicial investigation is underway involving the mayor of ‘s-Gravenbrakel Maxime Daye (MR), a member of Wallonia's parliament, and Mons-Tournai Prosecutor Vincent Macq, confirmed on Friday.
Due to the nature of the investigation, no details about the allegations involved have been disclosed by the prosecutor, who emphasised the presumption of innocence.
French-speaking newspaper SudInfo revealed the investigation on Thursday, but did not verify the information with Daye or his lawyer.
Sudpresse reported on Friday that the inquiry had to do with a harassment accusation against the parliamentarian.
On Friday, Daye’s lawyers, Édouard Huysmans and Essya Kastally, stated that their client “enjoys the presumption of innocence like all citizens, a fundamental principle of our legal system.”
