Two men were shot dead in the German town of Bad Nauheim, north of Frankfurt in the state of Hesse, police reported on Saturday.

The suspect is at large, according to a police spokesperson. “At present, there is no danger to residents or the public,” the spokesperson added.

An extensive search is underway to locate the attacker. “Currently, we believe there is only one suspect,” the police stated. However, by Saturday evening, no concrete leads had emerged to identify the individual.

A significant police presence has cordoned off a large area around the presumed crime scene, which is in front of a three-storey building. The area is a residential neighbourhood with several apartment buildings, located near a swimming pool.

The circumstances surrounding the incident initially remained unclear.

When the first patrols arrived at the scene, officers discovered two bodies, according to the police spokesperson. “Both deceased individuals had gunshot wounds,” he noted.

For tactical reasons, the police have not disclosed the victims’ ages. It is also unclear if the suspect and the victims were known to each other.
