On Tuesday, due to a rail strike, three out of five intercity trains are expected to operate, according to the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS).
The NMBS advises passengers to check the route planner before travelling, as labour unions are preparing for what will be the 22nd strike day on the railways this year.
The recent wave of industrial action was initially led by ACOD Spoor and ACV Transcom, but VSOA Spoor, OVS, and ASTB have also joined. The five unions have already staged strikes over the past two Tuesdays and are planning another one on 29 April.
The NMBS is developing an adjusted timetable based on available staff during this 24-hour strike, which begins Monday at 22:00. In addition to intercity trains, three out of five local (L) and suburban (S) trains will run, although there will be a limited number of peak hour (P) trains.
The strike action is in protest against a series of reforms proposed by the federal government, which include raising the retirement age, increasing worker flexibility, implementing budget cuts at the railways, and reforming HR Rail, the legal employer of railway staff.
