Dutch payment company Adyen was hit by multiple DDoS attacks on Monday evening, according to the firm, which serves as a link between sellers and banks during online or in-store transactions.

DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks aim to shut down servers by overwhelming them with Internet traffic.

The first attack occurred around 7.00 pm, and affected customers in Europe. The issues were initially resolved, but a second DDoS attack was reported by the company at 8:35 p.m.

Most functionalities were restored again. However, by 11:35 p.m., there was still “limited service availability,” according to the company.

Last year, the fintech company processed transactions worth nearly €1.286 trillion.
