The judicial investigation into the cyberattack on the Wallonia Public Service has escalated, now being taken over by the Federal Prosecutor’s office, Le Soir reported on Saturday.
The public prosecutor’s office has stated that no further information will be provided at this time and refused to confirm or deny several details reported in the media recently.
Reports by RTL Info and Sudpresse, citing anonymous sources, suggested that evidence points to an attack involving Russian IP addresses. It was also claimed that the intrusion primarily targeted information on Wallonia’s arms export licences, though Le Soir has been unable to verify these claims at this stage.
