A customer stabbed a café manager in Brussels on Saturday after being asked to show his Covid Safe Ticket (CST), according to Bruzz.

Asking to see a customer’s CST is required by law for cafes in the Belgian capital.

When the manager of the café (which was not named but is said to be located on Rue des Poissonniers in the centre of Brussels City) asked to see the patron’s CST, the man refused, pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen "several times," according to a statement from the public prosecutor.

The manager was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released. The customer was arrested and questioned.

The Brussels public prosecutor's office did not want to comment on the context of the stabbing, but the victim's son said that the altercation took place after the patron refused to show a CST.

The perpetrator will have to appear before the criminal court at the end of this month, “for assault and injury resulting in incapacity for work and for prohibited carrying of weapons,” according to the public prosecutor.
