Ten charges and counting after house raids in international police action

Ten suspects have been arrested by the Brussels investigating judge as a result of an international investigation into cocaine smuggling, according to the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office.

The arrests stem from the house searches carried out by authorities on Tuesday morning, mainly in Brussels and Antwerp, Bruzz reports.

Around 100 searches were conducted and 30 people were taken into custody. Of those 30, 10 have now been formally charged by a judge.

Because not all suspects have been brought before a court yet, the number of arrests may increase.

The suspects are all related to a case file involving an Albanian crime gang with links to organised crime in Latin America and Southern Europe, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office says. Most of the gang members live in Brussels.
