Flanders staging the world cycling championships last year generated €27.4 million for the local economy, the sport's governing body said citing a consultancy analysis.
Events gathering the world's top riders last September produced the equivalent of 565 new permanent jobs according to the analysis commissioned by the International Cyclists Union (UCI).

More than a million visitors gathered for the races between Knokke-Heist and Brugge or Antwerp and Leuven, situating the Flemish windfall at a rate far superior to equivalent mountainbiking events in Italy, they said.
