The International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (IYMF), a humanist socio-cultural charity founded by American-Jewish concert violinist Yehudi Menuhin in 1991, is set to host a concert at 19:00 on 7 April in Brussels to raise money for Ukrainian refugees in Belgium. The event will be held at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union in Brussels.
The IYMF works to promote the use of the creatives arts in education, creating “intercultural dialogue” and “social inclusion”, as well as enabling a musical exchange between emerging and established musicians, especially from “lesser known minorities.”
The event will be hosted in collaboration with the Lithuanian Embassy and the Stand Up For Ukraine campaign, launched by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau in March.
The fundraiser will feature performances by the Brussels Chamber Orchestra and solos from Czech violinist Olga Sroubková and Ukrainian violinist Diana Tishchenko. The event will include a programme of European classical music and arrangements.

According to the event’s organisers, funds collected at the event will be used to create a choir made up of Ukrainian children in Brussels. Directed by a choirmaster who will work with the children for 6 months, the children will later deliver further concerts through the foundation.
The organisers also hope that after the creation of the choir, further funds will go towards local primary schools in Brussels which are currently welcoming Ukrainian child refugees.
