Stéphanie Huang, the only Belgian selected for the Queen Elisabeth Competition, is one of the 12 finalists who will perform at the Henry Le Boeuf Hall on Monday 30 May.
“I’m a bit shocked and very happy that I'll be able to play again at Bozar. I don't have any words for it,” Stéphanie Huang told Le Soir.
During the final round, she will perform the Dvorak Concerto with the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Stéphane Denève, in addition to the compulsory piece, which will be revealed on Monday 30 May.
“It's a very complete concerto for the cello, where you have a lot of time to express yourself and to dialogue with the orchestra. It's also a unique experience to have a week to learn a new work," she said.

Huang will have to compete against strong candidates such as the 24-year-old Korean Hayoung Choi, whose previous performance is considered “the big surprise of the semi-finals" and the Ukrainian musician Oleksiy Shadrin, that “delivers committed performances, strong in contrasts, served by a solid technical mastery”, according to Le Soir.
Whether she wins or not, Huang is expected to perform at several events after the competition.
From 8 to 12 June, she will take her cello to the MuCH Waterloo Festival in the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Festival Idéal at the Potager du Roi in Versailles, France (2-3 July), and at the Verbier Festival Academy being part of the soloist section from 10 July to 1 August.
