Heavy rains and flooding have disrupted railway traffic in various parts of Belgium, particularly Limburg and Flemish Brabant, Belga News Agency reports.

In Limburg, the railway service on Line 34, between Hasselt and Tongeren, was interrupted as a result of heavy rains in Bilzen, Infrabel reported on Sunday.

The infrastructure management company said a system of shuttle buses would have to be set up.

Earlier in the day, flood waters shut down Trainline 36 between Landen and Ezemaal, in Flemish Brabant, according to Infrabel.

Trains were diverted through Hasselt, despite the interruption of traffic between Hasselt and Tongeren.

Substitute buses have been deployed between Landen and Leuven.
