Following a months-long investigation, six members of a drug ring that used the social media Snapchat to communicate have been arrested by the Brussels West police zone.
"It all started in January 2022, when investigators uncovered several Snapchat accounts that were selling drugs," a police representative told Belga News Agency.
These accounts, which allegedly had a real marketing team behind them, were bragging about being the "number one" hashish sellers in Brussels.
The dealers provided a range of services, including the sale of numerous types of cannabis herbs and resin in customised bags, hand-delivered to clients' houses on motorbikes, scooters, bicycles, and even in rental cars through the Heetch app.

"Everything was done to deliver the goods as quickly as possible", the police reported. "The perpetrators even used a QR code which would direct clients to another platform, Telegram."
Seven searches were carried out in the five municipalities of Brussels West's police zone: Molenbeek, Ganshoren, Jette, Koekelberg, and Berchem-Sainte-Agathe.
Six suspects were identified, four of whom have been handed over to the Brussels public prosecutor's office. The other two, who confessed, have been conditionally released.
In total, the police seized 3.047 kilograms of cannabis and 174 grams of cannabis resin, approximately €8,000 in cash, a motorbike, and a scooter. The investigation is ongoing.
