A rail worker has been killed and another critically injured after being hit by a train on Tuesday evening.
Het Laatste Nieuws broke the news on Wednesday morning that two employees were struck by a moving train in the Flemish municipality of Wetteren.
The incident occurred at midnight on a construction site in Viktor van Sandelaan, sources at the Belgian railway network Infrabel confirmed.

A passing train had taken the two men by surprise while they were working. One of them died instantly, the other was gravely injured.
An investigation into the circumstances of the accident, which have yet to be determined, is underway.
