With the start of the summer holidays, traffic will get denser on roads across Europe from Friday, 1 July. School summer holidays will begin at the end of the week, which sets off the annual mass migration of Belgium-licenced cars towards popular tourist destinations.
Mobility company, Touring, expects heavy traffic on Friday, 1 July and Saturday, 2 July, with some traffic jams on routes heading south. In Belgium, traffic is meant to be even heavier, within the red category of traffic. On Sunday, traffic will ease across Europe, except for roads in Switzerland.
In Belgium, traffic will be particularly heavy on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, with heavy traffic jams towards the coast, according to Touring. There will be some traffic on the E411 towards the Ardennes and on the E19 and E17 towards Paris, in the orange category. However, traffic will be heavy on Friday on the Brussels ring road and around Antwerp.
