Before setting off to the United States for the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, from July 15 to 24, the Belgian Tornados organised a press conference on Thursday in Louvain-la-Neuve.
In his role since 2008, Jacques Borlée announced the end of a long adventure which has placed the 4X400m relay on the world map, carrying the Belgian Tornados to the final of all the world championships, European championships and the Olympic Games, i.e. 28 finals in total with WorldRelays.

In the end, Borlée is leaving with an exceptional track record, whether at the Worlds with a gold medal, a silver medal and four bronze medals or at the Euros, five times in gold, once in silver and twice in bronze.
Twice elected coach of the year in Belgium, Jacques Borlée will lead the relay at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 as he has done since 2008 in Beijing (4th), London 2012 (5th), Rio 2016 (4th) and Tokyo 2020 (4th) last year.
On the road to the Worlds in Eugène, the mentor of the Belgian relay may have to do without Jonathan, one of his sons, who injured his hamstrings on Wednesday evening at the meeting in the Province of Liège. The goal is to reach three finals with the relays – Belgian Tornados, Belgian Cheetahs and the mixed relay explained Jacques Borlée.
