Visitors to Minnewater Park in Bruges jammed out to Coely and Sylvie Kreusch at the 39th annual Cactus Festival. The festival had been cancelled for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic but returned this year with crowds estimated at 22,000 to 23,000 people.

Headliner Robert Plant – a rock legend after being the frontman of English band Led Zeppelin – was absent on Friday night, following a bout of the flu. According to the Belga News Agency, the festival organizers received news of Plant's illness only an hour before he and country singer Alison Krauss were expected to perform.

Festival-goers were treated to music of all genres on Saturday, starting with Belgian urban artist Coely and ending with Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand.

The organizers announced on 11 July that the 40th edition of the Cactus Festival will take place next year between 7 and 9 July. For more information, visit the Cactus Festival website.
