The sixteenth edition of Tomorrowland got off to a pleasant start on Friday afternoon in Boom thanks to the pleasant – not too hot – weather, according to the organisers of the electronic dance festival.
Big names such as Armin Van Buuren, Hardwell and Major Lazer performed at Friday’s opening session of the annual event which, this year, is being run exceptionally for three weekends in a row at the De Schorre recreation area.
The 53-metre-high, 270-metre-wide main stage, baptised “The Reflection of Love Stage,” after the theme of this year’s edition, was completely designed and manufactured by a dedicated team in good Tomorrowland tradition.
In addition to the main stage, which comes as usual with an impressive light show, Tomorrowland also has 13 other stages of varying sizes.
This year, everything revolves around radiating positivity and connectivity after two years of disaster for organisers and visitors alike due to the Covid-19 crisis. This year’s festival is completely sold out, with about 600,000 patrons from all over the world expected in De Schorre over the next three weekends.
