A woman's life is believed to be in danger after being hit by a lorry on the E40 motorway.
Around 09:00 on Monday morning, a lorry driver had to stop for yet unknown reasons on the motorway's emergency lane near the Flemish town of Merelbeke.
However, instead of staying on the lane, the driver ended up on the main road where the vehicle struck a lady.
The woman was taken to hospital and is in a life-threatening situation.

Following the accident, the right and middle lanes of traffic had been closed causing delays of up to three kilometres.
A representative for the Federal Police told Belga News Agency that the motorway will reopen soon.
